Pacific Heron

The Pacific Heron is a  rare visitor to Flinders Island. In the last few years I have seen increasing numbers around the farms on Flinders Island.  These are quite large birds and are hard to approach. They will stand very still in the wet paddocks and around drains for extended periods of time wait to ambush prey.
