Yellow Billed Spoonbill

The Yellow Billed Spoonbill is a very rare visitor to Flinders Island, this is the first one that I have ever seen. While driving around my farm one afternoon I observed this bird resting in one of the drains, I did not have the camera with me at the time.

I was lucky enough to find the same bird the next day feeding on one of the farm dams. I was quite intrigued with the way this bird was feeding,  walking through shallows moving its bill from side to side in a sawing action. From this feeding action and the yellow bill I identified this birds as a Yellow Billed Spoonbill
